Ajax chaos: ‘The scenes outside were absolutely horrific’
The Eredivisie game between Ajax and rivals Feyenoord was abandoned in the 56th minute on Sunday after home supporters threw flares and fireworks onto the pitch.
Visitors Feyenoord led 3-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena when the game was called off, having already been paused twice.
Trouble continued after the game was called off and Amsterdam police said that some of the home supporters tried to break into the ground.
Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan was inside the arena and told Sport Today’s Ed Harry that "the scenes outside were absolutely horrific" and explains why frustration amongst Ajax fans has reached boiling point.
The remainder of the match will be played on Wednesday 27 September without a crowd.
