Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to host African Cup of Nations 2027
In a historic moment for East Africa, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania have won an official joint bid to host the African Cup of Nations in 2027.
Preparations will now swiftly begin to host the footballing event in four years time - with the three nations currently sharing just two international standard stadiums between them.
Rogers Byamukama, a board member of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, says "it is a momentous occasion and we are excited, we are grateful for the opportunity. And we look forward to hosting an extremely amazing extravaganza where we welcome the world to East Africa".
He added the preparations will start straight away: "the celebrations stopped last evening and from now on we are going to get our hands dirty".
