Leicester housing estate left to rot
Residents on Hospital Close want to move after they claim the area was left to rot.
People living on a Leicester Housing Estate say that they've considered moving after they claim it was left to rot.
Some of the properties on Hospital Close near to the Leicester General were bought by the City Council in 2021. That's after they were used by NHS Staff who worked at the nearby hospital.
A Leicester City Council spokesperson has said they will be contacting families in the area, and keeping them up to date on any progress, as part of their statement:
鈥淭here are six privately owned properties at the entrance to Hospital Close that are occupied, and we haven鈥檛 had any direct complaints from the residents.
However, in light of the issues raised by this family, we will be contacting all of them to update them on our progress and ensure they know how to contact us with any concerns.
This includes speaking to the 24 hour security guards who are on site and located nearby to them.
We appreciate the work is taking some time, but this is an ambitious 拢17million scheme that will transform the derelict former nurses鈥 accommodation into 135 much-needed new homes and will revitalise the estate.
A lot of preparatory work has already been done, including new roofs, drainage surveys and other groundworks and we expect the main regeneration work to get under way in the new year.鈥
