Roman archaeological dig taking place in Leicestershire
Lately there seems to be plenty of archaeological digs taking place fairly regularly all over the county. Often those digs happen because of local amateur archaeologists and historians working together to reveal something of our past.
The Rutland Roman mosaic first discovered in 2021 is a great example of that. Another site has been uncovered since, which sheds some light on how ordinary Roman people lived their lives.
Archaeologist Peter Liddle was once more standing in a hole in the middle of a field. This time near the village of Laughton near Market Harborough.
Ben Jackson has been to find out more about it.
