HS2 scrapped - What's next for Birmingham?
PM Rishi Sunak confirmed at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester that HS2 between Birmingham and Manchester won't happen.
Instead phase 1 will go between Curzon Street and London Euston. Trains will still go to Manchester but what would have been phase 2 will now feed in to the West Coast Mainline north of Lichfield near Fradley - so there will be new Trains but they won't be High Speed in the stretch from Birmingham to Manchester.
