St John鈥檚 Market: what makes a good market?
Traders at Liverpool's St John's Market are being asked to pay three years worth of rent, which the council says is now due. Legal letters were sent out yesterday by the council's solicitor.
The council says the non-payment of rent has cost it a million pounds a year.
There's been a long running row over the state of the market since its refurbishment in 2016. Traders were unhappy with the project, so the council waived the rent for a number of years. After the pandemic, it was reinstated - but the council says it was never paid.
