Flag football at LA 2028 Olympics 'would be humbling'

After LA 2028 organisers recommended it to be part of the 2028 Games, global flag football ambassador Phoebe Schechter discusses the growth of the sport worldwide.
Speaking with Sport Today's Nick Hatton, Schecter said: "Flag football has been taking off at an electric rate over the past few years...You can play all the way through really as long as you'd like to. You stay healthy, you can keep playing, so I think that's been a big appeal for everyone.
"It is played all across Europe, you've got all of Africa who are playing - we're talking Egypt, Nigeria - Brazil is taking off with it, Mexico has a really huge flag football culture and that's what you want. You want a sport that is easily accessible to all around the world, and because there are so few barriers to participation it's a sport for everyone."
The richest sports league in the world, the National Football League was part of the flag football bid along with the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), the sport's world governing body.
Flag football is five-a-side, on a smaller pitch and no contact is allowed. Instead of tackling, players need to pull a flag off the belt of the person with the ball.
