Israeli politician: ‘We are coming to hunt down Hamas’

Danny Danon says Israel ‘will do whatever is necessary’ to eliminate the threat from Hamas

Prominent Israeli politician Danny Danon says his country is ‘fighting for our life’ and ‘the more than one hundred people who were kidnapped from their homes’ after the murderous attack by Hamas on the weekend.

In an interview with ´óÏó´«Ã½ HARDtalk, Mr Danon said ‘we are sending our boys into Gaza in order to eliminate those terrorists who invaded Israel without any provocation’.

Danny Danon is a member of the Israeli Knesset for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud party and sits on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. He said Israel’s forces would ‘try to minimise civilian casualties’ but warned ‘we cannot guarantee 100% safety for the people in Gaza who will be around Hamas militants’.

He advised civilians to ‘move out from those neighbourhoods’ in which Hamas operates. Israel has cut off supplies to Gaza, but Mr Danon denied the territory had been put under siege saying ‘the border with Egypt’ meant ‘water, fuel, medicines’ could still be brought in.

Days after Hamas launched its assault, the death toll in Israel has reached 1,200 and more than 900 people have been killed in Gaza. Mr Danon vowed Israel would continue its retaliation. ‘We are coming to hunt down Hamas and we will do whatever is necessary,’ he said, ‘we will get to those people, and we will kill them’.
