'There are 50 people sheltering in my family's Gazan home'
Layla describes how her family are surviving day-to-day in Gaza.
It's been two weeks since Hamas launched its assault on Israel. Israel says it's hit hundreds more targets in the Gaza Strip and warns the campaign may last months. Palestinian authorities say homes were hit "without warning".
Layla (not her real name) no longer lives in Gaza but her entire family still do. They left their family home a couple of days ago after Israeli forces told them to leave. Layla told Newsday that she's struggling to keep in contact with her family and how they are dealing with life threatening danger each day, with limited resources.
"Communication is getting more and more difficult," Layla says. "There is very little that I can say to comfort them."
Laya says there are now around 50 people living in their house when usually there are 10. "It's overcrowded, nights are really difficult... there's really heavy bombing. They don't have drinking water... getting bread or anything to buy is really difficult."
