Oxford's iconic Tolkien and Lewis pub sold
St Giles' Eagle and Child has been bought by The Ellison Institute of Technology, who plan to restore and reopen it to the public. The pub dates back to 1650 and was the haunt of The Inklings, a group of writers including J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. After closure in 2020, the future of the Eagle and Child was uncertain.
