Why I’m teaching poker to my daughter to help her succeed in life
Poker player Alex O’Brien joined Jessica Creighton in the Woman’s Hour studio to share why she’s teaching her daughter to play poker – and what she believes the card game can teach us all.
She says it’s given her self-confidence, taught her how to deal with uncertainty and helped her learn to deal with failure.
Alex explained that she wants to share these skills with her daughter – to give her confidence and remind her that she has the right to take a seat at the table, whether it’s the poker table or a boardroom table.
You can listen to the full interview on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds – it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 1 November.
