Former Liverpool and Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso is 鈥渨hat makes the difference鈥� to Bayer Leverkusen, according to German football commentator Taufig Khalil, as the club equalled the record for the best start to a Bundesliga season.

Alonso's side have taken 31 points from a possible 33 in the league this season, equalling the record set by Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich in 2015-16.

Whilst Alonso may be 鈥渆veryone鈥檚 darling鈥� at Leverkusen, Khalil says that鈥檚 not the case for Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, whose side is currently second in the table behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
