The Crown: Imelda Staunton on playing Queen Elizabeth II after her death

As The Crown returns to our screens, award-winning actor Imelda Staunton discussed what it was like to take on the role of Elizabeth II since her death.

Speaking to Emma Barnett on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4's Woman's Hour, she said that hearing of Her Majesty’s death threw the cast off its axis, and that it was a very sad time.

Imelda also discussed why she thinks it’s important to be careful with these real-life stories to ensure they don’t cause undue distress to family members, and shared what she’s learnt from this role.
