In a New Year series, Sport Today picks out the sports men and women who could be writing their names into the headlines in 2024.

Tennis’ Linda Fruhvirtova reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in January and beat the soon to be Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova.

As world ranked 92, she is the second youngest player in the top 100 and has already won one WTA title - in Chennai in 2022.
