Lockerbie 35 – how Cumbria helped the Border town
It's 35 years since Lockerbie.
On 21st December 1988, flight Pan-Am 103 exploded over the town, killing everyone on board as well as 11 people on the ground. 270 people died in total. It remains the UK’s deadliest terrorist attack to date.
A new study has been documenting the memories of some of the people who were involved in the search and rescue operation that followed in order to better understand how what happened affected those involved.
