Israel-Gaza war: Family 'relieved to be still alive' after bombing

Gaza family flee to Rafah after surviving airvstrikes at Al-Maghazi refugee camp.

Hamas says nearly 21,000 Palestinians have been killed during 11 weeks of fighting. With continuous airstrikes spreading to the south as well as central Gaza, many people are now moving towards Rafah, the crossing near Egypt, in the hope of reaching a safe area..

Alaa, who lives in the UK, says her entire family has been on the move from Gaza. On Sunday night, some of them were in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza that was hit by Israeli air strikes. More than 70 civilians were killed - but Alaa's relatives survived. Alaa told Newsday that her family were "relieved to be still alive" after a difficult, sleepless night. She says that "most of the block where they were was gone" after the air strikes.

Now, the family are in Rafah. Although they do not feel completely safe, they are getting aid such as fresh drinking water.
