DR Congo: Third placed presidential candidate cries foul

The third placed presidential candidate in DR Congo's presidential election Martin Fayula has rejected the result of the December 20 election. The electoral authorities have declared the incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi as the winner.

Mr Tshisekedi won about 73 per cent of the vote, with his nearest challenger, Moise Katumbi, on 18 per cent, officials said. The 20 December election was marred by widespread logistical problems.

Mr Fayulu, a veteran politician, told 大象传媒 Newsday that the idea that he received only 5 per cent share of the vote was unbelievable.

"Any sane person cannot accept that. We had a sham election."
