Junior Doctors strike on Merseyside: What we know
The longest strike in the history of the NHS begins across Merseyside.
Thousands of junior doctors in England - who make up nearly half the doctor workforce - are starting their six-day walkout.
It falls during one of the busiest times of the year for the health service, because of staff sickness and higher rates of illness like flu and Covid.
