Who was behind blasts that killed 95 civilians in Iran?

There have been no immediate claims from any groups for the bombs at a memorial event.

At least 95 people have been killed by two bomb explosions near the tomb of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his assassination by the US, Iran's state media report.

Scores of others were wounded when the blasts hit a procession near the Saheb al-Zaman mosque in the city of Kerman. Videos showed bodies on a road and ambulances rushing to the scene.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowed the "terrorist attack" would be met with a "harsh response".

But who's behind the attacks? Newsday asked Dr Sanam Vakil - she's the director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House.

"It's too early to tell. Israel has a history of targeted attacks and assassinations in Iran [but] has never been behind an explosion of this kind... that has led to such significant loss of life. There are a number of suspects."
