The cost of living has pushed more Over 55s to turn to Equity Release Mortgages, to get their hands on additional cash to help them survive their retirement. Equity release allows older homeowners the chance to borrow money against the value of their home or sell part of it in exchange for a lump sum or a regular income but some are only now realising that they face crippling repayments. Our finance expert Iona Bain explains the risks involved and the support available.
