Success! Commuter the seal is freed from a plastic ring
Seal Research Trust volunteers had been tracking Commuter since September 2017 after the plastic ring was spotted around his neck. On Sunday, SRT surveyor Andy Rogers spotted the adult male grey seal on the north coast of Cornwall. Members of British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were able to catch the seal and removed the discarded paint tin seal from around the animal's neck. Commuter's injuries were deemed "not as deep as feared" and he was released back into the sea where it's hoped he'll make a full recovery. Pic: Andy Rogers / SRT.
