The gritters keeping Cumbria's roads open
Gritters from Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council have been out in force over the last 48 hours, keeping the main roads ice free. Nick Raymond, from the highways team at Cumberland Council, explains the logistics behind getting 125 tons of salt on the counties roads, and why it can be too cold for the salt to work.
