Kenya asks Israel: 'End war on Gaza'
Kenya鈥檚 Foreign Minister says: 鈥淚t is time to ensure that there is a cessation because it鈥檚 beginning to morph into a bigger problem.鈥
The Biden administration has strongly criticised the Israeli prime minister's rejection of the creation of a Palestinian state.
In defiance of US foreign policy, Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel needed security control over the entire territory west of the Jordan River for the foreseeable future. He accepted that this clashed with the principle of Palestinian sovereignty.
Israel's allies and many of its foes have urged a revival of the long-dormant "two-state solution", in which a future Palestinian state would sit side-by-side with an Israeli one.
Kenya stood with Israel in the wake of the October 7th attacks by Hamas.
Musalia Mudavadi is the Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya and Foreign Minister. He told Newsday: 鈥淭he President of Kenya has now repeatedly called for a cessation of the heightened conflict because the response from Israel on Gaza has now escalated to a level where the humanitarian crisis and the loss of lives is catastrophic鈥he feud must be settled through dialogue politically.鈥
He added that Kenya is 鈥渘ot breaking our relationship with Israel鈥t is time to ensure that there is a cessation鈥ecause it鈥檚 beginning to morph into a bigger problem.鈥
