Campbell's Bluebird returning to Coniston
Donald Campbell's famous speedboat will return to the Ruskin Museum after a ten year battle. Bluebird has been at the centre of an ownership dispute between Bill Smith, who's been restoring the boat at his workshop on Tyneside, and the Campbell family who want it displayed in Coniston. Campbell was attempting to break the world water speed record on Coniston Water in 1967, when the boat vaulted from the surface at more than 300mph, killing him instantly. The boat was subsequently raised from Coniston Water in 2001 and then returned to working order. Donald Campbell's daughter Gina Campbell gives her reaction to this surprise announcement.
