Cornel West: 鈥淣ever lose hope鈥�
The American philosopher, activist and now independent candidate for US president has said that he thinks political change is possible in America.
In a special programme filmed in New York City, Professor Cornel West told HARDtalk: 鈥淵ou have to bring power and pressure to bear outside of the system to create space inside of the system to create the fundamental transformation. You need in the name of poor and working people of all colours, not just here, but around the world.鈥�
He added: 鈥渨e should never lose hope.鈥� But he said 鈥淚'm no optimist at all. I've been a black man in America for 70 years.鈥�
The 2024 United States presidential election will be the 60th quadrennial presidential election, and is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
