Workers 'done dirty' by Pershore cleaning company

A company which collapsed in to administration has left hundreds of cleaners in Worcestershire unpaid.

A company which collapsed in to administration has left hundreds of cleaners in Worcestershire unpaid.

'TTB Contracts' had been trading for 20 years, offering cleaning services to schools, it was based in Pinvin, near Pershore, but ceased trading in October, with around 200 people losing their jobs.

Since then the workers have been trying - and failing - to get the money owed to them.....ranging from several hundred pounds, to more than a thousand pounds in some cases.

Our reporter Tom Edwards went to meet Nicola Stanley, a mum-of-two in Droitwich, who was employed by the firm.

The firm was owned by a woman called Margaret Lee - she filed for bankruptcy back in September and the company was placed into administration.

We did speak to someone else who used to help run the company on her behalf yesterday - he told us a meeting is taking place on Friday 16th February, and he was hopeful the workers will get the money owed to them, but he couldn't say anything more at this stage.

In the last letter TTB sent to the workers, they were told to ask 'The Insolvency Service' - a government body - for compensation.

We did contact the Government's Insolvency Service - they say there are "about 200 employees" of TTB Contracts who "may be eligible to claim" some compensation - so far they've had 93 claims submitted. Even if they do get any cash, it won't be more than a week's pay for every year at the firm.
