Posterngate: Lincoln's underground Roman remains
Lincoln is well known for its Roman history, but every day thousands of people walk past one part without even realising it's there.
While some remains, such as Newport arch - the Roman north gate - are familiar sights, others are largely hidden away including Posterngate at the southernmost end of the Roman city.
Formerly a gateway to Lincoln's river Witham, it's now hidden away behind a nondescript door in an unassuming city cellar.
