Pilkingtons: end of an era in St Helens
After almost two centuries, the last piece of glass was made at Pilkington's Watson Street site in St Helens.
The company produces more than 230-thousand tonnes of glass in the town, which is used in buildings all over the world.
It's moving manufacturing to a new, greener plant, just a few hundred metres away from the historic site – continuing the legacy of glass-making in St Helens.
