Doctor describes dramatic birth on London-bound flight

Imagine the scene. You're on-board a plane, heading home after a lovely holiday, when all of a sudden you hear an announcement over the speakers: "Is there a doctor on board?"

That's exactly what happened to Dr Hassan Khan who was flying home from Amman, Jordan, to London Luton Airport, on Saturday morning when - two hours in - the crew called for a doctor.

The 28-year-old, who works at Basildon Hospital, said a woman was lying on the floor outside the cockpit and her waters had broken.

Once he'd successfully delivered the healthy baby girl, the flight attendants told him she was only the 75th infant to be born on a commercial flight.

He's been describing the dramatic and 'miraculous' mid-flight birth to 大象传媒 Radio London's Riz Lateef.
