Quorn plans celebration for D-Day 80th anniversary
This year is the 80th anniversary of D-Day and people in Quorn have special reason to be planning celebrations, and also commemoration to fallen soldiers.
In 1944, the 82nd Airborne Division from America came to Quorn and set up camp whilst preparing for the war in Normandy.
Two thousand men won over the hearts of locals, before going on to take part in the D-Day landings. 220 of those men lost their lives and never returned to their adopted community.
Dennis Marchant is a member of the Quorn Local History Group and one of the co-ordinators of the D-Day events. Dennis told Kelly Hinch what they're planning for this special anniversary year.
