New state-of-the-art 'BEACH' facility for UHD
'BEACH' stands for Birth, Emergency, Critical Care and Children鈥檚 Health. These are services which the new department hopes to bolster with the new building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site.
This new building is the size of 115 tennis courts and will provide new purpose-built maternity and children鈥檚 units, an additional CT scanner, an improved major emergency department and one of the biggest critical care units in the country.
Over 拢500 million has already been invested in the project, but the charity says that extra funding would go towards a children's play area, wellbeing gardens for patients and staff and sleep pods for junior doctors to get rest during their shifts.
