Asma Khan: ‘The environment in kitchens is unacceptable’

Asma Khan is one of the 100 most influential people of 2024, according to Time magazine. She’s also one of the UK’s most prominent female chefs and founder of the London restaurant, Darjeeling Express.

Joining Anita Rani in the Woman’s Hour studio, Asma discussed why she’s calling for more female chefs to call out misogynistic, aggressive behaviour that she thinks seems to be acceptable in professional kitchens, and why she wants male chefs to help.

Asma also spoke about her all-female kitchen of mostly South Asian immigrants over the age of 50, most of whom had no formal training.

You can hear the whole interview on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 2 May.
