Mum of son who died after attack calls for new law
The mother of a Leicester man who was attacked and left to die on a city street is calling for a new law which she says could have saved him.
Emma Daniel's son Matthew Schofield was left for at least an hour and a half before he was found on Belgrave Road last June. It's thought he may have survived if he had been helped earlier.
A murder investigation into Mr Schofield's death is ongoing, with a total of 16 people arrested in connection with his death. Nobody has been charged.
Emma is calling for people to have a legal obligation to call for professional help if someone's in danger. Nearly five hundred people have already signed Emma's petition.
Emma has been talking to Ady Dayman.
A Ministry of Justice Spokesperson has told us that: 鈥淎 duty of care already exists in certain circumstances, including for emergency workers, and we have no current plans to change the law in this area.鈥
