When Jason Woods was researching his family tree when he found a connection to Private George Brueton (who died in France aged only 24 after taking part in D-Day), it inspired Jason to become more interested in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. There was no memorial for George and his 153 comrades who died or were injured in Lebisey Wood, France, Jason changed that, and when he unveiled it in 2022, he was featured on Midlands Today. When a picture of George featured on the TV report, sisters Lyn and Sue were watching and recognised George as their uncle, they got in touch with Jason to tell him that George's sister, Doreen, their mother, was still alive. They met two months later, Jason continued to research and was contacted to say that George's other sister, Beryl, was still alive. Doreen and Beryl had lost contact, and each thought the other had died. Doreen and Beryl met in June 2023, 65 years after being apart.
Lyn and Sue have recently given Jason the medals of their grandad to put alongside George's medals.
