Tina Fey on the big difference between her generation and Gen Z

20 years on from the Mean Girls film, writer and actor Tina Fey discussed how things have changed for young people in Generation Z (those born in late 90s and early 2000s) compared to her teenage years.

Speaking to Nuala McGovern on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Tina spoke about the impact of social media nowadays.

She said: ‘It's like going from fighting with bayonets to fighting with nuclear weapons’, and that the stakes now are much higher for youngsters, so ‘the longer you can keep [children off social media], the better’.

Tina also shared how the iconic story has been updated for new audiences as the Mean Girls musical takes to the West End stage for the first time.
