Despite protests by teachers, parents and pupils, councillors made a final decision to close two schools in Brighton and Hove at the end of August.
But St Bartholomew's primary has been given a temporary reprieve.

Katie Blood is the headteacher.

A spokesperson for Brighton & Hove City Council said: 鈥淭he decision to close St Bartholomew鈥檚 Primary School has been reviewed by the Office of the Schools Adjudicator, who examined the decision afresh and reached the same conclusion 鈥 that the school should close. We now have a clear timeline in place for everyone to work towards.

鈥淥f the 111 pupils currently on roll at the school, only 9 have not been allocated a place at a new school for September and this is because their parents have not yet indicated their preference for an alternative school. Suitable places are available locally.

鈥淣o offers of school places have been turned down and we are working with school staff to identify the best option for these 9 children and to make sure the moves to new schools are as positive as possible for all the children impacted.鈥
