Bournemouth primary school wins Jamie Oliver award
Chef Russ Ball came to Pokesdown Primary from the hotel industry and was met by a culture of re-heated food and a modest kitchen, with just a six-tray oven. Despite the resources available to them, he and his team have transformed the manner in which the children interact with food.
By engaging the students with the process of growing and preparing ingredients, Russ has managed to expand their palettes and triple the number choosing school meals.
This earn him and Pokesdown Primary a Jamie Oliver Good School award, after the parents nominated him. Russ spoke to Radio Solent's Steve Harris.
