How Paralympics inclusion can take para-climbing to new heights

Para-climbing will make its Paralympic Games debut in 2028 after the International Paralympic Committee agreed to the sport’s inclusion proposed by the Los Angeles organisers.

It’s the first time an organising committee has added a new sport to the Paralympic Games, marking a significant moment for para climbers around the world – including Australia’s Sarah Larcombe.

Larcombe, who only took up the sport in 2019, tells Sportshour’s Caroline Barker how she has gone from hiding her disability to full embracing her amputation. But she says she would have had to consider her future in the sport, due to financial pressures, if it had not been selected as a Paralympic sport.
