TRANSLATION: There are no Conservative MPs left in Cornwall after they lost every Cornish seat in last week鈥檚 general election. Labour won 4 of the 6 constituencies 鈥 Anna Geldard in Cornwall South East, Noah Law in St Austell and Newquay, Jayne Kirkham in Truro and Falmouth and Perran Moon in Camborne and Redruth. The Liberal Democrats took the other 2 seats. Ben Maguire won the North Cornwall seat and in St Ives, Andrew George retook the seat that he held for the Liberal Democrats between 1997 and 2015. The Conservatives had held all 6 seats since the 2017 election. Dr Stuart Fox, a senior lecturer in politics, said it was "quite remarkable" the Tories no longer had representation in Cornwall and added that it was without doubt a 鈥榦nce in a century event鈥.

TRANSLATION: Padstow coastguard rescue team and RNLI lifeguards were sent to Harlyn Bay last Sunday after an ice cream van was caught by the tide and swept out to sea. Catherine Smith had been on the beach when she saw a "small crowd gathering" near the cliff edge. She said that many people tried to help by trying to pull the vehicle back to shore. The coastguard confirmed that the driver was found safe and well and was not in the vehicle when it was in the sea.

TRANSLATION: The story of a Truro man killed in Ukraine after rescuing hundreds of people from the front line has been turned into a documentary. The 大象传媒 film 鈥楬ell Jumper鈥 features the work of Chris Parry, who went to the country shortly after it was invaded by Russia more than 2 years ago. Mr Parry, 28, died from gunshot wounds alongside fellow volunteer Andrew Bagshaw in January 2023, after rescuing more than 400 people. Much of his work is captured on 10 hours of bodycam footage, which makes up a large part of the film. The film was produced by Adriana Tymco. She said that Mr Parry had told her about his year in Ukraine, about the horrors he鈥檇 seen and how it had changed him. She said, 鈥渉e started sending me footage, and said that if anything happened to him, he would like his family to have something of him.鈥 She said she never ever thought this would become true. There was a premiere of the film for family and friends at Truro's Plaza Cinema It will be broadcast on 大象传媒2 on 24 July, and will also be available on 大象传媒 iPlayer.
