'Tackling child poverty is a personal priority'
The MP for Leicester West, Liz Kendall, says she is committed to tackling child poverty both locally and nationally in her role as Work and Pensions Secretary in Keir Starmer's new Labour government.
The government's agenda for the next year has been set out by King Charles in a speech at the State Opening of Parliament. The Prime Minister says the measures will create growth - with draft laws including plans on nationalising the railways, and to speed up the delivery of "high-quality infrastructure and housing".
The new Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has been speaking with Ady Dayman.
