Crime clampdown in city's most deprived estate
Efforts are underway to cut crime in an area of Leicester which locals say is being blighted by anti social behaviour and criminal activity.
The new 'Safer Saffron' campaign will see police officers enforce a three-part plan to rid the Saffron Lane estate of serious crime.
Officers say half of the crimes reported in the area during one year were drug-related.
Government figures show the suburb is the 172nd most deprived area in the UK, of more than 32 thousand areas.
大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Ben Workman has been speaking to local people about what it's really like living and working in the area, and Inspector Paul Crew, the Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander for South Leicester, explains how the project will work.
