Runner raises £23k as thank you for friend's care
The countdown is on for our Make a Difference awards in September – celebrating people in Leicestershire and Rutland who go above and beyond.
We’ve had hundreds of nominations - and every week until the big day you can hear some of the stories behind the finalists.
All this week, we're meeting the nominees in the fundraiser category. This is awarded to an individual or group of people who have gone the extra mile to raise funds for a good cause.
This year Elissa Adams was one of the 50,000 people to run the London Marathon - but she crossed the line knowing she had raised a whopping £23,000 for a cause that is close to her heart.
