Schoolboy misses out on free bus pass by 24 metres
A Leicestershire family have been told their youngest son can't have a free bus pass when he starts secondary school next month, even though their eldest son can.
11-year-old Alex is preparing to join his older brother Oscar at Rawlins Academy in Quorn later this summer - but, because the local authority has changed how it measures the distance from home to school, he'll miss out on free travel by 24 metres.
It means that they'll now have to pay out more than seven hundred pounds for a bus pass.
Mum Jo explains to Ady Dayman how they first became aware of this issue.
Leicestershire County Council has told us in a statement that they are "aware of this issue, which is currently going through the appeals process. They are unable to comment further while this process is ongoing."
