Counter-protesters rallied on Wednesday against anti-immigration demonstrations in English towns and cities, including Leicester.
Police had been braced for further violence after a week of rioting and disorder.
Gatherings in locations including north London, Bristol, Newcastle were largely peaceful, as counter-protesters formed the bulk of the crowds.
Hundreds gathered in Leicester in a show of unity from communities.
Pete Hobson from Leicester City of Sanctuary, who work to help asylum seekers and refugees in the city, spoke to Ady Dayman.
