Elizabeth Heyrick 'abolition' sculpture unveiled
A new sculpture's been unveiled at the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery of Elizabeth Heyrick, who was a leading voice in abolishing slavery in the 1800s.
Born and bred in Leicester, Heyrick also campaigned for workers and prisoner rights, electoral reform and the abolition of capital punishment.
A public vote crowned Elizabeth as the winner of the special sculpture, designed by local artist Corinne Lambert, which has been donated to the city.
