A Coventry teenager has told 大象传媒 CWR he feared for his life when he was subjected to racist abuse by two people in a company van.
A police investigation is underway to find those responsible. The company that owns the van has issued an apology after a video of the incident had more than two million views on social media.
大象传媒 CWR's Ushma Mistry spoke to Abz about the incident.
We reached out to Collins Earthworks, and they have said: "We were and still are completely horrified by the actions of the person permitted to drive one of the vehicles聽 on an inner-city street in Coventry last Saturday night.聽
Racial abuse has no place in our company, and we will not tolerate anyone found exhibiting such behaviour.
The person involved no longer works for our company, and we are still cooperating with West Midlands police regarding the incident.
We鈥檙e committed to ensuring incidents like this do not happen again through various equality, diversity, and inclusion programs and training.
We have reached out to the victim by way of apology and would welcome a meeting with them in person.
We also contacted West Midlands Police, who said: "We are investigating after two men were racially abused as they waited by a vehicle on Park Hill Road, in Coventry, at about 8.50 p.m. on Saturday (17 August).聽
The incident was reported to us that evening, and we are working to establish exactly what happened and trace whoever was responsible.聽
We are also aware of a video being circulated on social media and of threats being made about the incident, which are also being investigated.聽
We'd ask anyone with information who supports our on-going enquiries and gets in contact with us."
