Droitwich's Raven Hotel 'finally' being worked on

The historic Worcestershire hotel had become an eyesore after years of repeated vandalism, now action is finally taking place to protect the building, after council bosses threatened the developer with legal action.

Last month, Wychavon District Council wrote to the dilapidated site's owners, giving them a seven day deadline to spell out when they'll make it safe and secure.

Now work is underway to board up the smashed windows, repair damage to the roof, and block off access to deter any trespassers.

Tom Edwards reports, in Droitwich.

'LPW Development' is the firm which wants to revamp the Raven, they've got outline planning permission to build new homes, a gin bar and brine baths. They say some demolition work towards that aim is expected to start before the end of the year.

Wychavon District Council say they'll 'continue to monitor the situation'.
