Terrence Mullett took the position earlier this year, but was axed after a dispute around what he wanted to do with the role.

He tells our reporter how he planned to travel across the country to promote Hereford as a place for tourism, as well as take part in town crier events such as competitions.

Hereford City Council has since let him go, saying it doesn't share his vision, and they're concerned about costs, despite the fact that Terrence said he'd pay for it all himself.

We did ask Hereford City Council if they intend to find another town crier, bearing in mind the role was empty for several years before they appointed Terrence; there was no response at time of publishing.
