Mars rovers tested in Leighton Buzzard
Two Mars rovers have been put through their paces in a former quarry in Leighton Buzzard.
The four-wheel and six-wheel vehicles have been developed by the aerospace company Airbus in Stevenage.
The Bedfordshire quarry, which has also been used as a film location, was chosen because of its ‘dynamic landscape’ which could not be replicated at their Hertfordshire test base.
Rover programme manager Chris Draper told Andy Collins what the tests involved.
