'I'm 92 and never warm without the heat on'

MPs have backed the government's policy of cutting winter fuel payments for all but the poorest pensioners.

The government won the vote by 348 votes to 228 - a majority of 120. Fifty-two Labour MPs did not take part in the vote, including seven ministers, but it is not clear how many deliberately abstained or were absent from Parliament for another reason.

During a heated Commons debate before the vote, the Conservatives said the plan would "cause untold hardship to millions".

Pensioners at Age UK in Leicester told Ady Dayman how they felt.
